Keys Group Futures: 19-25

Monday - Friday, 9am-4pm

Futures is a skills-based service which aims to support and enable young (post-19) learning-disabled people in their preperation towards adulthood. We seek to enhance existing key social and intellectual skills and empower our young people towards a future life of greater control and independence.

Our provision is outcome driven and evidenced, with structured, curricular social content and AQA accredited elements in areas including numeracy, literacy and ICT. We have designed our provision to reflect the 4 key outcomes set out in the DfE's Preparing For Adulthood (PFA) programme:

  • Employment
  • Independent Living
  • Community Inclusion
  • Health

Each young person will have a timetable/scheme of work which reflects their EHCP outcomes or other agreed realistic outcomes as well as personal preferences and interests. Assessment against outcomes will be continuous throughout.

Futures is a very well resourced provision, with a particularly strong ICT element. We offer sessions in Art, Horticulture and Drama as well as 'special Interest' periods, broadening the scope with which we can work towards each young person's individualised outcomes.

Enhancing communication and alternative methods to speech is a big part of what we do. A lot of our work is delivered on a one-to-one basis by experienced learning assistants. Professional speech and language therapy is available in-house also.

Whilst focussing in particular on key, identified outcome areas, all of our individualised programmes will include core areas of numeracy and literacy and will typically involve some curriculum-structured community and social leisure activity.

We encourage interested parties to contact us with queries or to arrange to visit.
