You Said, We DidView all services

We want to listen to everything you have to say about the SEND Local Offer Website, and we would like to thank you for all your feedback and suggestions.

We listen to everything you say, and this page is where we will show you how much your comments make a difference to our website.

“We are not involved enough.”

We have several groups working on the development of Liverpool’s SEND Local Offer.  We have a specific children and young people’s group and parents/carers are involved all the way, from senior steering through to assessment and testing. You can get involved by visiting the Local Offer’s ‘Get Involved’ page or by clicking the ‘Have Your Say’ tab.

“It is confusing to have the Family Information Service and the Local Offer together.”

We believe that the Family Information Service and Local Offer go hand-in-hand, so we have worked to restructure the site to make it easier to navigate and find what you need.

“Information is out of date.”

We have a system to make sure information is updated regularly and are working hard to get everything up to date.  We ask services to update termly, and information pages are checked annually. Please let us know if you see anything  that appears to be out of date.

“Finding EHCP information is difficult.”

There is now a category clearly named ‘SEND support and EHCP’.  Senior people working in SEND will be responsible for making sure this section has the correct information and is up to date.

"The site needs to be more inviting and family-friendly.”

We have commissioned designers to create fun and  friendly characters and designs to improve how the site looks. Keep your eyes peeled for our new Liverbird and Lambanana characters who are roaming around the website!

“Some services are simply not there.”

We have reviewed the SEND Code of Practice to help us identify any gaps in statutory services and we are working to make sure these are filled. If you can’t find a service and you think it should be on the Local Offer, please tell us.

“The search tool brings up bizarre results.”

The search tool will look for words you search and will bring back any results containing those words—for example, if you search for ‘SEND;, every single result containing this word will appear. This isn’t something we can change, so we ask site users to choose their search terms carefully. However, we are continuously working to improve our keywords and we have improved the current site structure to make the directory easier to navigate.

“There are too many empty pages.”

We have reviewed the website and removed any empty pages.  If you find one, please let us know via email or by using the ‘Have your say’ button on the site and we will check it out.

"The word 'Downloads' is confusing - how do I know this is safe to click on?"

The internet can be a confusing and difficult place. This is a government website (see the gov.uk part of the URL!) and we work very hard to make sure everything on here is safe for you to click on. If you'd like to find out more about staying safe online, Internet Matters have put together a helpful guide for you. If you are ever unsure about clicking on a link, speak to an adult at school or home for advice.

“The information is difficult to understand.”

We have developed clear guidance for information owners to follow based on YOUR voice.  This includes amount of writing, backgrounds, pictures and diagrams.

“We like videos explaining information and services to us. We especially like stories involving young people using services”

We encourage all contributors to develop better ways of communicating. Our website does include a range of videos, but this depends on whether individual services have the time, expertise and ability to make and produce videos.  Ask your services if they have any videos or can help you understand more.

“We would like the 'hover' function to tell us more about a click before we click."

We are working on it!  We have contacted the people who host our site to find out how to improve this.
