Keys Group: Futures

Futures is a skills-based learning disability structured day service which aims to support and enable young (post-19) learning-disabled people in their preperation towards adulthood. We seek to enhance existing key social and intellectual skills and empower our young people towards a future life of greater control and limited dependence.

Our provision is outcome driven and evidenced, with structured, curricular social content and with some AQA accredited elements in areas including numeracy, literacy and science.

Each young person will have a timetable which reflects their EHCP outcomes or other agreed realistic outcomes as well as personal preferences and interests. Assessment against outcomes will be continuous throughout.

Futures is a very well resourced provision. We offer sessions in Art, Horticulture, cookery, music and relaxation therapy, yoga and Drama as well as 'special Interest' periods, broadening the scope with which we can work towards each young person's individualised outcomes.

Enhancing communication and alternative methods to speech is a big part of what we do. A lot of our work is delivered on a one-to-one basis by experienced learning assistants. Professional speech and language therapy is available inclusive and in-house also. We also have a full-time nurse (RNLD) on site.

Whilst focussing in particular on key, identified outcome areas, all of our individualised programmes will include core areas of numeracy and literacy and will typically involve some structured community and social leisure activity.

We encourage interested parties to contact us with queries or to arrange to visit.
