Safe Place Merseyside

SAFE Place Merseyside is the Sexual Assault Referral Centre for the Merseyside area
At SAFE Place Merseyside we offer forensic medical examination services for both males and females who have been sexually assaulted.
We have a team of highly-trained healthcare professionals who are here to support you at our examination suite in Liverpool City Centre.
We can also provide you with emergency contraception, preventative treatments for sexually transmitted infections (STI’s) including HIV post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) and advice on screening for STI’s at a later date.Immediate crisis support
The crisis worker is there for you. They are the first person you will meet and they understand that you have been through a major trauma and personal crisis.
They are specially trained to support people who have experienced rape or sexual assault. They will be your guide and advocate from the moment you arrive at SAFE Place.
You may not be able to take in what is happening but your crisis worker will be there to reassure you and provide you with the information you need. They will take time to explain your choices so that you feel involved and able to make informed decisions.
Your crisis worker will explain what the medical examination involves and they will stay with you the whole time, if that is what you want.
Your crisis worker is trained to listen to any worries you may have and answer any questions. They will give you time to absorb and reflect on the information you are being given.
Our team of crisis workers also offer a 24 hour telephone support service you can ring them at any time on 0151 295 3550
