All Saints Catholic Primary School Nursery Class
Our nursery at All Saints Catholic Primary School is a very popular early years setting in Anfield. The school works very closely with our colleagues at Anfield Children's Centre to give our children a good start to their education journey. Our nursery classes can accept children from their 2nd birthday until they start school.
The nursery teacher, along with our highly experienced early years practitioners, help plan and deliver lessons and activities which offers a well balanced and broad a curriculum that covers all areas of learning. In addition the children enjoy learning Spanish, taking part in PE in the school hall as well as accessing music sessions with musicians from the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic.
Parents and carers are regularly welcomed into the nursery for "Stay & Read" sessions and/or "Stay & Count" sessions. In addition we celebrate Christmas in the hall with the children's families as we gather for cookies and milk after listening to the children sing popular Christmas songs.
We place a great emphasis on developing your child's speech and language skills to promote your child's learning. All parents are invited into school at least twice a year to discuss their child's progress
We operate an open door policy so pop in to look around the nursery - no appointment necessary- and if you like what you see just fill in our childcare enquiry form to confirm availability.
Find out if your child is entitled to free nursery education (2, 3, 4 year olds). We can also signpost you to where you may be able to get financial help to pay childcare fees. Our nursery is open to all children regardless of faith, ability

- Description
How does the setting know if children need extra help and what should I do if I think my child may have special educational needs?
When your child has been offered a place, we will ask you for information about your child. It is normal to worry when your child first starts nursery. However our highly experienced early years practitioners will discuss your concerns with you. After about 6 weeks when we have a bit more knowledge about your child we will meet with you and our special education needs and disability coordinator to discuss the best way forward to help you and your child. Part of our role is to observe children at play and assess our findings. If necessary we will put play plans in place (which are unique to your child) to encourage your child's development. All parents are consulted over any plans the nursery put in place to enhance your child's learning and progress.
How will the staff in the setting support my child?
As we continue to monitor, your child’s keyworker will observe how your child learns and engages with adults and other children. Your child will have a learning journey and if your child needs extra help and support, this will be part of his/ her play plan.
How will the curriculum be matched to my child's needs?
We try to ensure that your child has their individual needs met. Each child is encouraged to take part in every activity whatever the child’s needs are. We are able to adapt activities to ensure each and every child is given the same learning opportunities.
What specialist services and expertise can be accessed by the setting?
All our staff have had training in some aspect of SEND. Eg autism, speech and language, sign language, portage training. The nursery SENCO has a NVQ level 3 in Special educational needs and disabilities. We work with a variety of agencies including speech and language therapists, physiotherapists. The nursery is a member of the Early Years Consortia.
How accessible is the setting?
We are confident that the nursery is fully accessible and DDA compliant. We are quite happy to discuss your and your child’s needs and how we can best meet them.
How will the setting support my child in transferring to the next stage of education?
When a child leaves us to either go to another nursery setting or to school, we have your permission to share your child’s learning journey. We will do our best to meet the staff of the new setting in preparation for your child’s transition. A transition form is completed for each child when they leave us so they have a written record of your child’s achievements.
How are parents involved in the setting? How can I be involved?
As we are part of the children’s centre all parents are welcome. As well as the nursery we also have sessions each day that your child can attend. We have a parents’ forum where we listen to your opinion on the services we offer and we also have parents who serve on the management board. In the nursery itself we have regular parents evenings and sessions where parents can stay and take part activities with a group of children.
