Welcoming Cathy Bernard: Liverpool's New Designated Social Care Officer for SEND

We are thrilled to announce the arrival of Cathy Bernard as Liverpool's newly appointed Designated Social Care Officer (DSCO) for Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). As part of our ongoing commitment to supporting children, young people, and their families, Cathy's role will play a vital part in ensuring that the social care needs of our SEND community are met with utmost care and expertise.

Cathy brings a wealth of experience and a passion for improving the lives of those with SEND. With a strong background in social care and a dedication to advocating for the rights and wellbeing of individuals with SEND, she is well-equipped to take on this essential role within Liverpool City Council.

The Designated Social Care Officer position holds significant importance as it serves as a crucial link between families, schools, healthcare professionals, and various early help and social care services. One of Cathy's primary responsibilities will be to join up the early help, social care, and SEND systems at the strategic level.

On behalf of Liverpool City Council, we extend a warm welcome to Cathy. We are excited about the opportunity to embed the new role in Liverpool and to drive positive change in this area.
