- Description
1. How does the setting know if children need extra help and what should I do if I think my child may have special educational needs?
As a setting we would offer extra settling in sessions, these would be done working alongside with parents to fit in around them and would be without further charge, on the child’s first settling in visit the parent would stay and fill in an all about me with a staff member, if a parent then highlighted any concerns regarding their child’s development then this would be discussed and then further observations would be made through base line assessment, and further support would be given to child and family.
2. How will the staff in the setting support my child?
The child’s key person will then become lead practitioner and support through observations, planning and assessment, one and one and small group work, play plans if relevant to individual child.
If then referrals are needed this would be discussed with parents and other agencies will be involved
3. How will the curriculum be matched to my child's needs?
We follow the EYFS which is age appropriate but also helps staff to enhance or support a child’s learning
4. What specialist services and expertise can be accessed by the setting?
Local children centres can offer advice and support, SALT, the consortia, drop in sessions for advice and support, diptacs, PVI clusters
We also have staff trained in various areas, for example senco’s have relevant training for their role this includes code of practice and ehat training.
5. How accessible is the setting?
We do have wheel chair access to the lower level of the nursery, this is via a ramp.
We will be willing to support and discuss any adjustments needed
6. How will the setting support my child in transferring to the next stage of education?
When we receive confirmation from parents regarding their child’s new school or setting we contact the new setting and arrange a time and date for us to visit them.
We also complete transition forms that are given to the new school/setting to help them with the settling in process and to inform them of were the child’s development within the EYFS framework.
7. How are parents involved in the setting? How can I be involved?
We are constantly working with our parents to enhance our practice. We have parent socials, parent partnership days, parent questionnaires we also ask the parents to come into see the child’s key person every 3 months for a progress report.
