I attend various playgroups ( when it is safe to do so but at present with Covid we go to more outdoor places so we can keep social distances safely) and song time sessions for the different ages of the children in my setting for social development in the wider community. - Description
- How does the setting know if children need extra help and what should I do if I think my child may have special educational needs?
If your child is new to my setting and you are unaware of development delays I initially we discuss what the child has achieved already and work out their next steps from there. If I have any concerns I will discuss them with you and monitor this with play plans and discuss with you regularly. I can help and liaise with other agencies and work with them to implement strategies to help your child.
How will the staff in the setting support my child?
We will progress and monitor regularly and share any information with you as parents. I use this with the EYFS guidelines, learning journals, observations and any plans put in place.
I have EHAT training so I am aware of the process needed in this and can help and support you as a parent.
I have a good support network with the children’s centre who are very good if we needed more information or advice.
I have access to help in our local consortia and we have regular contact with the educational psychologist for help and support.
How will the curriculum be matched to my child's needs?
As a childminder the plus point of attending a setting like this are the numbers are on a smaller scale than a nursery so there are a lot of one to one opportunities and with regular observations and individual planning this helps to match the child’s needs.
I also attend larger groups of children of different ages so your child will have other social stimulation and experience within the community
. What specialist services and expertise can be accessed by the setting?
We work in partnership with the local authority, health and social care services, children centres.
I am a member of the Early Years Consortia and as stated we have regular support with the educational psychologist and can access support via telephone or drop in sessions
I have been trained/are qualified in : Ehat training I have completed my NVQ level 3 specialising in Communication speech and language and also my nvq level 3 in children and young people.
How accessible is the setting?
We are happy to discuss your child individual needs with you and discuss the best support for your child.
6. How will the setting support my child in transferring to the next stage of education?
We work closely with all schools and nurseries in Liverpool giving formative summary assessments to give the setting a summary of your child’s development and if they wish to discuss or need any further information I am more than happy to support a smooth transition for your child.
In the past I have visited the school with the child, have found out the names of the teachers and printed off pictures of the teacher and setting so it is familiar to the child before they have had any settling in sessions.
How are parents involved in the setting? How can I be involved
I invite parents to discuss their child's progress regularly.
I have a daily diary up to the age of 3 so you know what they have done through the day what developments we are working on and how they are going.
We link with our local children centre and parent groups.
