C.A.D.W.A. Playgroup is a well established Early Years preschool playgroup that offers weekday sessions 8:45 - 11:45 Monday & Wednesday and 8.45 - 12:45 Tuesday, Thursday & Friday during term-time.
The playgroup has been in operation for over 50 years, and is managed by the committee of the Chelwood And District Welfare Association, Registered Charity Number 521160. C.A.D.W.A. Playgroup employ three highly qualified and experienced child care practitioners who have each been dedicated to the playgroup for over ten years.
C.A.D.W.A. Playgroup implements the Early Years Foundation Stage (E.Y.F.S.), which sets the statutory standards that all Early Years childcare providers must meet. This includes all maintained schools, non-maintained schools, independent schools and all other providers on the Early Years Register.

1. How does the setting know if children need extra help and what should I do if I think my child may have special educational needs?
Pre-visit to discuss individual needs.

2. How will the staff in the setting support my child?
Key Person Roles
EYFS Learning Journeys, continuing photographs, observation and child’s development and progress, child initiated and adult led activities in a well-planned room which supports all areas and development of all children.
3. How will the curriculum be matched to my child's needs?
Key groups are by chronological age
Children’s progress is monitored and individual steps planned for.
4. What specialist services and expertise can be accessed by the setting?
Staff have relevant training and qualifications to identify concerns and know how to make referrals to relevant services if needed.
Staff members attend Early Years consortia. SENCO on hand, portage training, EHAT training, pathways knowledge.
5. How accessible is the setting?
Ground level, very accessible with wheelchair access, large spacious area, pack-away setting which allows flexibility of areas and resources allowing free movement.
6. How will the setting support my child in transferring to the next stage of education?
Good transition links with all the schools/nurseries children move on to, visits arranged into setting from schools. Links with children centres for additional support. Prepare for next stage of education with regard to education i.e. phonics.
7. How are parents involved in the setting? How can I be involved?
Prior to pandemic:-
Open door policy and regular formal discussions to discuss children’s progress.
Home links with children learning and preparation for transition into school.
Two social gatherings to showcase children’s achievements.
Links with community.
Once the pandemic is over it is hoped that we can return to our normal way of doing things.
