Local Offer

Description
  1. How does the setting know if children need extra help and what should I do if I think my child may have special educational needs?

We will initially get as much information from you about your child when your child starts in our nursery.

We will use this as a starting block and being to build up a profile using; the information you give to us daily and from observations and assessments, we will do within the nursery.

If we have a concern that your child may need additional support, we will speak to you about our concern and discuss with you how we can support your child and you as their parent.

This would be the same if you expressed a concern about your childs development.

How will the staff in the setting support my child?

We have a member of staff who has undertaken training via the Local Authority in Special Educational Needs.

She will assess your child and then with you and the Childs key person and nursery manager, will put in place a strategy to support your child in the setting and work with you on how you can continue this support at home.

If your child needs further support, our SENCO will access the local Consortium for further advice and possibly external agencies and  resources that will help.

How will the curriculum be matched to my child's needs?

Each child in the nursery has individual activities planned for them in line with their next step development.

Your child will have activities changed slightly to meet their needs, ensuring they have full opportunity to experience all activities and we can meet their next steps of development.

What specialist services and expertise can be accessed by the setting?

We have our own SENCO and have access to a variety of specialist support and resources through the local Consortium.

We will attend any medical or professional meetings you may need to attend.

How accessible is the setting?

The setting has off road parking and has been assessed for DDA compliance.

The setting is suitable for wheelchair access.

The setting also meets the religious and cultural requirements of each child and family.

How will the setting support my child in transferring to the next stage of education?

A detailed transition report will be written by the manager using the information given by your Childs key person and room leader. This will be passed to your Childs new setting before they start.

We will endeavour to support your child when they attend for taster days at the new setting and will help you with any information you may need clarifying

How are parents involved in the setting? How can I be involved?

Parents can visit the setting through out the day, they can ring whenever they need to, and can speak to their Childs key worker and room leader at any time.

Parents are invited to help on day trips, come in and do little sessions with the children and help with planting and growing.

We publish a bi-monthly newsletter that informs parenst of what is happening for the next two months.
