Tillymints Nursery

Here at Tillymints we aim to provide high quality childcare. We offer settling in sessions for all children so that they become familiar with the setting and staff before they start. Children will be assigned a key person who will be best suited to the child's individual needs.

We follow the EYFS curriculum and adapt our environment to meet the needs of the children. Staff will observe children and plan for their individual needs. Children have access to a large outdoor provision. we work on termly themes of children's interests and encourage them to learn through play. Each term our children enjoy an outing based around the theme their working on or we have guests in to talk to us e.g. we have a theme of people who help us we have had a paramedic in to show us how he helps people. the dentist in to talk to us around visiting the dentist and why it is important. 

We have Spanish lessons daily for our preschool children, toddlers have a weekly Spanish lesson. 

As as a setting we introduce children to all cultures but work closely on British values.

We have 8 members of staff who are level 3 Qualified, 1 member of staff  who is level 2 qualified , All staff are pediatric first aid trained and have completed safeguarding training. All staff are aware of prevent duty.

Our SENCO has completed SENCO award training and attends regular DIPTAC  meetings. The deputy SENCO is also attending the SENCO award. Our SENCO's attend regular consortia groups to gain support form outside agencies e.g. SENISS and educational psychologists and access resources for children with additional needs. 

We have 2 members of staff who have completed portage training, We are applying for the portage stamp of approval.

Management, toddler room supervisor and pre school supervisor have attended Tier1  autism awareness training. Our SENCO has attended tier 2 and 3 autism awareness course and has a very good knowledge around supporting children on the pathway or with a diagnos's. One of our staff have attended building blocks for communication training and completed in house training for all staff.
